How and when I acquired this album I do not know. It appeared in my glove box one day when I was looking for a change from Dokken. Hot & Nasty the cover promised. Mmmm, I've been told this before, Hotter Than Hell, Too Fast For Love. Bands are good with the sweet talk. And isn't that Dave Lee Roth on the cover.

If you have a closed mind about music, and most of us have, then you will struggle to get a handle on this record. But I have a challenge for you. Buy this CD, play it and only it for two weeks, and you will become hooked. I put this into my car's CD player. And there it stayed. After the first play I tried to release it but my car just wouldn't let it go. It was stuck, and for that I am grateful.

Many people refer to this band as Southern Rock. That's misleading. They're from the South (USA) and they do play in four four time, but BOA are unique, like no Southern Rock band you have heard. Yes they have the muiltple guitars, but this isn't radio friendly interplay, these guitars spit raw venom over the ferocious beat and boom of the drummer and bass player, who sound like they are nailing a thousand planks of wood to the side of a barn, Ba bam bam ba ba bam bam, Ba bam bam ba ba bam bam. And when the coiling riff has licked its way through those beaten barn planks, it happens. A deep gutteral wail and Mr Dandy tells us, quite convincly, that people call him Hot and Nasty and he tells us again. And then he tells you why people call him this. If you are a husband living in the same village as Jim Dandy, you are probably too afraid to leave your house. In case he comes knockin'. The man is filthy.

There are many fine songs on this CD, unpretencious and honest in their approach.
