Product Description

Fleeing the village of VFD, after some time in the Deluxe cell for a murder they did not commit, the Baudelaires hide with the Volunteers Fighting Disease on their way to the Heimlich Hospital. Addressed by Babs, who can only be contacted through an intercom speaker on a desk, the orphans start work with the near-sighted Hal in the hospital library of records. Hal says he remembers a file in the records to do with the Snicket fires, but before the children can find it, Babs is suddenly replace by Mattathias - none other than Count Olaf - who plans to inspect every employee in the hospital. Staying late to find the file, the Baudelaires find a picture of their parents with Jacques Snicket, and another, partly obscured figure who may be a writer. But at that moment Esme Squalor arrives - Klaus and Sunny escape, but Violet is led to the operating theatre for a cranioectomy. Disguising themselves, Klaus and Sunny manage to rescue the unconscious Violet, but not before Esme has set fire to the library of records, adding arson to the false charges now facing the children. Chased through the now burning hospital, they make their escape, only to discover that the only way out is to hide in the trunk of Count Olaf's car - possibly the most dangerous place of all. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Back Cover

Before you throw this awful audio to the ground and run as far away from it as possible, ou should probably know why. This audio is the only one which describes every last detail of the baudelaire children’s miserable stay at Heimlich Hospital, which makes it ont of the most dreadful audios in the world.

There are many pleasant things to listen to, but this audio contains not one of them. Within it are such burdensome details as a suspiecious shop-keeper, unnecessary surgery, an intercom system, anesthesia, heart-shaped balloons, and some very startling news about a fire. Clearly you do not want to hear about such things.

I have sworn to research this story, and to record it as best I can, so I should know that this audio is something best left on the ground, where you undoubtedly found it.

--This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

The exitement starts straight in the beginning of the book, where Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire go to a general store to send a telegram to Mr.Poe. However, no answer is coming and soon they must escape with a VFD car to the Heimlich Hospital. They get a job in the Heimlich Hospital archival library where they find a page from the mysterious Snicket file.
Klaus and Sunny try to save somebody named Laura V. Bleediotie from a suspicious person called Mattathias. It turns out that the Baudelaires have encountered him before! I found this book very enjoyable and amazing, so if you like to read a book with an (very)unhappy end this is what you are looking for.
Even my father who hasn't read any other books of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" liked this! "The Hostile Hospital" is great!

very good book 11 Oct 2003
Format:Audio Cassette
This is very good and like all the other books in the series it has lots of unfortunate things happen so you won't be dissapointed by the title. The good thing is that in this book they are on the run from the police so no one will save them and they are on their own I would reccomend this to children of all ages but I'm not so sure that adults will like it.

A very good read
P.s don't forget to read the other books in the series.

After you've been framed for a crime you didn't do and are running away from the authorities and a man who wants to steal your fortune, what can you do ?Are the siblings doomed or can they find a way out?
I strongly advise you to read the others in the series for in you don't you will hardly understand a word he is saying. A very cleverly written book and I really enjoyed reading this book.
If you are a Lemony Snicket fan you will throughly

Great!
I really enjoyed this book and I am eager to see how this story ends. This series manages to remain gripping despite the fact that in each book Count Olaf is after the children.
