If you've seen the film Ghostbusters you may remember this quote:
Dr. Egon Spengler: "Well, let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning's sample, it would be a Twinkie... thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds."
I kept noticing how Twinkies appeared in American programs until I knew I had to try them.
I ordered some from America and, although expensive, it was a great birthday treat for my work colleagues and me.
Warning: Twinkies are addictive. There's next to nothing to them, but they taste great. They have a kind of sticky-syrupy sponge outer layer and a creamy-sugary inside. After you've stuffed one in your mouth, you'll think "that was a nice, light treat" and stuff another one in, but you have to get it under control at that point or face bloating out to the size of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
I eventually went on holiday to New York and, sad to say, I hunted out Twinkies, along with every other piece of American junk food I'd ever heard of. It was worth it. And Twinkies still stand out as one of the best.
Now, this £10 deal from American Soda on Amazon isn't a bad one. For example, they're £3 a piece in a specialist sweet shop (candy store?) near where I live. Admittedly, they're about $4 a box of 10 in New York, but that's beside the point if you live in the UK.
All I can say is: go on, spoil yourself.
