Anything by Malorie Blackman is always good. What I love about this book is that there's a feisty female character who engages in a daring adventure. My children enjoyed reading a story which included British children who were black and mixed race, without being crass stero types.

I've used it in class and it has been enjoyed by both girls and boys in upper Key Stage 2.

My 11 year old daughter struggles with literacy and yet this is the first proper book has been able to read and understand independently. She was captivated by the story and read it in just two evenings. The text is quite large and well spaced, the pages are not over crowded, the language is straight forward but with a punchy and exciting style, the pages are tinted yellow and there are occasional magazine-style pictures with 'think bubbles' over the characters. All this seemed to help. She is onto her next Barrington Stoke book now and her confidence in literacy is growing.

I bought this for my eleven year old daughter for Christmas, as she absolutely adores Malorie Blackman and her work. The book itself arrived quite quickly, and it is of good quality. My daughter was really happy when she opened it up, but the book only took her ten minutes to read. It's another of Malorie Blackman's superbly well-written stories, but it is for younger readers as the font is very large and there are pictures on almost every page.

Brilliant buy for younger readers, (but not too young, the book IS about kidnapping) but my daughter loves it anyway.
