There isn't a great deal to say about this book. It just provides an animator with a series of keyframes that are useful in describing the gaits of the various animals illustated; horses, elephants, baboons, cats, birds. It's a scientific book, and I think the photographs of horses may have been taken to settle a bet as to whether, at full gallop, all the hooves leave the ground simultaneously. But it's of significant value to an artist, especially an artist who hasn't bothered to study anatomy properly and makes everything look like it's been made out of plasticine. A short cut to da Vinci. Sort of. Of course it isn't only for animators, but if you happen to be one this is a very useful book. I just wish it was more comprehensive. So do the hooves leave the ground or not? Buy it and see.

Not as good as the original being split into too smaller books hasn't helped it. It does show a limited number of animals in movement but the photographs are not all that detailed and maybe have not been reproduced in a good enough manner.

This book is an amazing reference if you want to study the movement of animals, whether they are walking or travelling at full speed. I have found it very useful over the years and refer to it a lot.
