BLOODY FABULOUS,
By A Customer

The Stands first album All Years Leaving hinted at how could they could be. The album sounded like it was made in the 60's, not a problem for purist however...Horse Fabulous is a massive sonic step forward. Howie Payne is certainly one of the most gifted UK songwriters we have. The album is crammed full of lilting melodies, great vocal harmonies and the best songs and production of Payne's careerBloody Fabulous

Simply Wonderful,

If you have enjoyed the acoustic pop side of The Coral, The Zutons, Ian Broudie, Delays, etc this fits in neatly. It also hints at The Beatles, The Byrds & Harry Nilsson. It is a keeper and a grower. Also check out the b-sides of their singles - all great (and should be recognized as part of this winning album)!

Underrated band!,

I can't understand why this band aren't up there with the likes of Coldplay, Franz Ferdinand or the Kaiser Chiefs. They've now produced two excellent albums, although I would say if I had to choose I'd just have to take the first one, 'All Years Leaving' over this.If you like sixties influenced, countryish rock with a hint of psychedelia then you couldn't do better than buy either, or both, of The Stands albums, which have some excellent and even beautiful tunes. I can only conclude that they aren't more successful because they are somewhat derivative, reminding me of the Flying Burrito Brothers and the Beatles themselves. Indeed one of the tracks on here is a blatant rip off of the Fabs 'She's a Woman - but then that's no bad thing. If you're going to be influenced by anyone choose the best!
