A new Horrid Henry book is always an event - it is great to have some new adventures. All of my three children have loved the books and my youngest is now beginning to enjoy these (having begun reading them herself with the Early Readers) and, of course, they are ideal for reading aloud. As always there are four stories: Horrid Henry and Rude Ralph tell scary stories in "Horrid Henry's Nightmare", Greta makes a return as lunchtime monitor in "Revenge of the Demon Dinner Lady", Perfect Peter's pet cat appears in the neighbourhood pet show in "Fluffy Struts Her Stuff" and last, but my no means least, Henry and Peter compete in "Horrid Henry's Mother's Day." It is a shame none of the stories feature Moody Margaret in a major role (my favourite character, if not my kids!), but they are all great fun and the last story is the best of all. Francesca Simon has created a whole world of characters that are beloved, by both boys and girls, and her books will tempt even the most reluctant reader.
