My six year old got into Horrid Henry through the school library and these are probably the first set of books he has read on his own (with a bit of help) and enjoyed listening to at bedtime. He was given this one for Christmas, and it was the first time as a parent I had come across the stories.
This compilation is loosely based on Henry's antics at home and he is truly horrible to his Mum, Dad and brother Peter. What we like about the stories is that they have wonderfully wicked twists in the tales, which not even I as an adult see coming. Our favourite one in this compilation is Horrid Henry and the Mega Mean Time Machine. In it, he convinces his brother, Perfect Peter, that he has invented a time machine and can travel to the future. Henry's cunning knows no bounds!
Some people have given these compilations negative reviews because they are all old stories, but for those of us who are new to Horrid Henry they are fantastic - 10 stories for the price of 2. We are aiming to collect them all
