Reviews

The riotous runaway success returns - fresh from winning its fourth Children's Bafta and second British Comedy Award.

This new series boasts new sing-a-long-if-you-dare songs featuring Charles Darwin as David Bowie, a boy band of pilots from the Battle of Britain, nursing pioneer Mary Seacole in the style of Beyoncé, a big love ballad from Victoria and Albert, and the Pilgrim Fathers in Jay-Z and Alicia Keys-style.

‘Death’ is also welcomed back as he presides over some of the Most Stupid Deaths in History.

This series sees a terrific ensemble cast of firm favourites return, joined by Chris Addison (The Thick of It), Sarah Hadland (Miranda) and the cast of the League of Gentlemen (Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith).

Horrible Histories - the PERFECT TV show that's far too good for kids! It's entertaining, comical, musical and educational, too! It is one of the BBC's hidden treasures (as it is broadcast on CBBC's Children's channel)that's well worth discovering!

It is top notch, quality, educational, entertaining stuff! It is exceptionally well written and performed by an ensemble of incredibly talented actors.

You can't just watch it once - you need to watch it a few times because you miss stuff for laughing out loud.

The songs are brilliantly catchy with lovely nods to pop music history - Greek Thinkers, The Few (RAF), The Borgias, The Pilgrim Fathers, Shakespeare ...

Also, it is wonderfully addictive - which is why I can't flaming wait for this DVD to come out.

I have learned more history by watching horrible histories than i did at school. and i considered i was good at history.

It is so funny, im in stitches every time i watch it. No matter what age you are it is amazing to watch. :)

I can hardly wait for this to come out. the children and I are watching it on iPlayer every night. It's funny, clever, educational and one of the best programmes on TV. The cast are amazing. A romp through lots of historical eras, packed with well researched facts presented in bite-sized chunks. Never patronising, great vocabulary, teaches you things you didn't know.

Horrible Histories is for everyone, I am 75 and my family and friends have all had to watch it and are as hooked as me. When it does come out I will have hours of recording time available. I adore the 'baddest; emperor song about Nero and the 'Popey' business in the Vatican, and the Masterchef spoofs are some of the best comedy around.
