I bought this book for my Son who was 9 at the time. We give Christmas eve presents which are usually a dvd or book related to Yule (Christmas) and some pyjamas or dressing gown etc. Anyway this was the chosen book for my eldest. We like to encourage our children to think outside of the box and not rely on the very selective information taught to them at school. We teach them about where the true Yule celebrations started and how it developed into what it is today and this book supports everything we have ever told them. This book is of course not related to the curriculum so is more factual and like all subjects in the 'Horrible' genre are to the point and written for kids. I learned a few things too! The illustrations are fantastic and it breaks the mould of the bog standard usual books about Christmas and most importantly it explains how there were 'Christmas' celebrations BC.

Bought this for my six year old boy who loves most of the Horrible History books. As Christmas was approaching thought this would be a good build up. He loves it. Lots of information (some gruesome, some really funny, some both!!) in there about christmas in the past. Also words to songs such as "While shepherds washed their socks by night" which he has found hilarious. I have caught him a few times reading the book on his own laughing out loud in his bedroom. Would recommend....
1st copy we received there was a fault with the printing and the pages were folded incorrectly but we sent it back and with 36 hours we had a brand new copy... great service
