I have read the other reviews and disagreed with most. This is not a game, it is a simulation of a model railway. It represents all the best Hornby products in virtual form and allows you to build dream layouts that you could not otherwise afford. The simulation is a real step up from the first version allowing the trains to be driven independently and the contruction of 3D scenery around your tracks. I have used the software without experiencing a single crash or other technical problem and recommend it very highly. If you enjoy contructing model railways, have big ideas about dream layouts or just enjoy watching the trains go by then this is for you.

Fun:
This, as other reviewers have said, is not a game and should not be compared to other train simulation software. It is basically a useful planning tool for layout design. Having said that, the graphics on VR2 are average to poor, as is the menu system and various control elements. The whole software design has a Nineties feel to it and, as such, I would have no complaint if it had been priced accordingly, say at £5-£6. The designers of VR2 have missed several tricks, and could have made layout design a bit less frustrating and, at times, laborious. But, on second thoughts, maybe that's what we enthusiasts like ' the sheer challenge! If so, VR2 certainly has that.
