In the whole this is a nice train set and being able to expand it is nice. The track mat that comes with it is probably not the best as you have to unfold it which leaves creases in the mat.
The other thing that was a major problem was that 1 bit of track was faulty which was the power connecter track. Trying to push this connector together with another piece of track a bit of the track fell apart in my hands and it pulled the track away from it's base with tiny bits of track breaking.
Apart from this the track now has small gap on the track line but I tried the train out and it circled around full speed with no problems. I would like to receive a spare track part for that bit but now sure if Amazon would do that or can do that? Maybe I should contact Hornby as seems manufacturing fault.

Managed to get this for my grandsons when it was £70
- what a bargain.....
We did have a few teething problems with the dcc controller, which culminated in complete failure outside of the rather mean amazon 5 mile or 5 minute warranty.
Thank goodness for Hornby. A quick email to Hornby HQ and a new controller was sent out within a day or so completely FOC - with no proof of purchase required.
I've bought Hornby products for 50+ years now - the quality of a Hornby trainset will not fail to disappoint.
I've also tried German Marklin train sets, but prefer to buy Hornby whenever possible.
To the guy who failed at the first hurdle and gave the product one star - I expect that his school reports said "Must try harder...!"

Rubbish!
