Myself and my lady friend bought this train set for her boys for Christmas 2004. It really is a great train set. The only thing is that the set includes only 2 carriages and I think it should have 3 which is why I bought an extra carriage. The playmat on which you place the track is great and a lot better than the one that was included with the first train set brought out for HP and the Philosopher's Stone. My advice to anyone buying a Harry Potter train set (or any train set for that matter)is to buy a board on which to pin the playmat and the track. I bought a piece of chipboard which matched the dimensions of the playmat and then glued two layers of cork tiling on top of it into which to stick the track pins (Hornby make special track pins). Do this a few days before Christmas and be ready with a tall story to spin to your kids as to what the board is for (we made up that it was for pinning postcards to). Once the set has been unwrapped on Christmas Day pin the playmat with drawing pins at four corners on the board. After putting the track together and test running the locomotive on the assembled track to make sure you have a proper circuit pin the track down using the special track pins made by Hornby (but be prepared for sore thumbs). Once you have done that you will have many happy magical years of Hogwarts Express fun. We also got the Hornby model of Platform 9 3/4 for the layout and the end result is a great Harry Potter train set that delights everybody. Hornby should bring out some Harry Potter figures to place on the model of Platform 9 3/4. I know this is really from HP and the Chamber of Secrets but I did try to find a 00 gauge model of a Ford Anglia to go with this train set but without success. Mind you, taking this approach of constantly adding accessories to the train set we should have a model Hogwarts school and a model Glenfinnan viaduct! Although the Prisoner of Azkaban train set is now off the market I hope anyone buying any of the future HP train sets will find my advice about setting it on a board useful. Hornby track is very delicate and doesn't really stand up to constant assembling and dismantling. Pinning the set down on a board is very strongly recommended.
