Product Description

When humans came down from the sky they brought with them the Testament, the guide to the path they must follow if they wish to return to the skies again. Now, in a strange world where only the islands of Japan are inhabitable, the nations of the world vie for power and protect the portions of Japan that they have claimed. And each is armed with its own ultimate weapon: a Roysmoi Opro, an Armor of Deadly Sins. But there may be a far greater threat to mankind than the Roysomi Opro, for the Testament ends abruptly, and it is now the last year. Is this the end of humanity, or can Tori Aoi and his fellow students from the aerial metropolitan ship Musashi somehow affect the course of destiny? Who and what is the HORIZON IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE?

4.0 out of 5 stars An entertaining and odd series 6 Aug 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Tori Aoi is the idiotic and carefree President of the Musashi Ariadust Academy Student Council who wants nothing more than to confess his love to the mysterious automaton P-01s who looks remarkably like his deceased childhood friend Horizon Ariadust. His desire to confess his love is complicated however as events begin to transpire that could lead to the apocalypse and P-01s ends up right in the middle of it.

'Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere' is one of those series that I know has some problems yet I cannot help but to greatly enjoy it anyway. Based on a series of light novels, the show has some good humour, great action and some nice emotion as well. The main problem with the series is that it takes some time to get going with the first four or five episodes of this thirteen episode season basically being the prologue with the real plot of the series as a whole not kicking off until after this. As well as this, when I first watched the series, I did find the backstory and the setting as a whole a little confusing and I have heard it said that to truly appreciate what is going on in this show you need to research the series (such as the reasons why they use Judge and Tes in place of yes, what the various races and technologies are etc.) but personally I feel that it can still be enjoyed as it is, as long as you don't try to think too much about it. Interestingly there are some explanatory note subtitles to explain some of the Japanese terms and references used in the series which was quite nice (even if I did have to pause to have time to read some of them.

The series has a wide verity of characters including merchants, knights, samurai, a cyborg, ninja, demons, robots, slimes, a half-dragon and a pair of lesbian angle techno-witches to name but a few.

Set in the distant future where humans returned from the skies with the testament the guide they must follow if they wish to return to the skies. This is an excellent anime with plenty of fan service comedy and action. Join Tori and the gang as he tries to declare his love for horizon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Something to try 9 Jan 2014
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this series when it first came out, loved the animation, the story was both in depth and funny as well. There is a second series as well, but no 3rd as of yet (anime's rarely get a 3rd season).

If you have the patience for the dialogue, you'll get to some amazing parts

The first series is great how everyone bands together for a cause they believe in as a team for war and piece.
