So, after reading the highly polarised reviews of this product, I approached it eagerly anticipating a struggle. I got one.
All of the comments citing the difficulty of application are accurate: putting this thing on without any mistakes is painstaking. However, if you do as I did and read the comments and advice on here first, and take your time with it, it can be done first time. I managed not to leave any bubbles or dust underneath mine, but then (abandoning modesty) I'm fairly good with my hands and I have a lot of patience.
Some people don't seem to feel that this learning curve and skill requirement is fair for a consumer product, and I sympathize. The best anyone can offer at this point is a caveat, so consider this fair warning: it is difficult to put on correctly. Chances are, however, that if you've got an appetite for technology you've probably already had to dismantle, repair or assemble something, so you've got all the training you need to put this protector on. And if you approach it with adequate patience and care it does work and is worth it: mine looks fine (I noticed no difference in brightness or sharpness) and I no longer have to worry about damaging the screen.
But no, you can't just buy it and slap it straight on your screen and have it look right: such products do not exist. Screen protectors are, by their nature, fiddly and delicate to apply.
