I'm one who usually hates altering products from how they are originally intended to look. I also never caught on to this whole "custom skins!" trend. However, my younger brother likes Mario a lot, and we needed a way to protect the gamepad when he is allowed to use it. I'm not gonna lie... I'm not a fan of the red color they chose (it's a little too dark) but overall, the gamepad seems a lot more "fun" to look at with the skins on.
Also, the screen protector that was included was easy to put on. Probably the easiest I have ever done. I only got one piece of dust caught under it, but it was easy to use tape to remove it. (Instructions for this can be found on the company's website.)
The only cons I can think of are: 1.) I don't know how the gamepad will look when we decide to remove the skin. It's supposed to be "safe" and officially licensed by Nintendo, so let's hope it doesn't leave any residue. (I would test this but the sticker skins are VERY sticky and a bit hard to pull up
2.) No instructions are included in the box. You must go online. (horiusa.com) This was easy enough for me, but I feel for the parents who don't have the time/patience/skills to help their kids apply these.
OVERALL, I highly recommend this product. I was reluctant to spend the $14 (w/ tax) but I am happy I chose this set for a screen protector because the skins are a nice little added bonus.
