5.0 out of 5 stars At last I feel like one with my Vita 14 July 2012
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I can't be bothered to leave comments on Amazon generally...however, this product is such a game changer that I felt compelled. The Vita is my first handheld, never saw the point of previous handhelds: poor graphics and without two analogue sticks. Along came the Vita and I was in-love with the idea of it. I got one on release and was really, really impressed. However, I am a grown man and my hands are just too big for long comfortable play. Also my hands naturally rest on the rear touch pad (very annoying). Well this Hori grip has just rectified all those issues. It is like holding a gamepad with the grip on. Also the rear touch pad is within easy reach and my hands do not naturally rest in that area. This is a well made product. The Vita sits in the grip and has soft velvet protection for the points where it makes contact with the Vita, so it won't scratch it. I am using it with a screen protector on the Vita without issue. I don't even need to use the grip extension and my hands are medium to large size (for an adult). All-in-all, a top product. I cannot recommend it enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Good That I Bought Three of Them 23 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is, mark my words, THE DEFINITIVE grip attachment you can have for your Vita. Discontinued in the US (where I live), simply because people didn't know about them, and the original Vita launch was slow, I was sorry I never bought this when I first got the Vita in the US. I've had one for over a year now, and just today bought 2 more (planning ahead). The material is a very dense plastic that, while it doesn't weigh a lot, feels very sturdy and strong. The grips are extendable, so you can position them to your comfort levels.

I glanced at some reviews that were negative about this and I was blown away by them. Seriously? Is there something better available in the UK that I don't know about? That's preposterous. Those people must not be holding the grip the way you would hold a controller. For the extendable parts to slip, you have to literally be pushing into them with your palms, and that's not a natural posture for holding something, gripping something.

I wanted to add a voice of positivity for this product because once it's gone (I fear it'll be discontinued in the UK too eventually), Vita owners will be missing out on by far my favorite Vita accessory. I consider this item a MUST-HAVE, mandatory requirement for all Vita owners. There's no way you can play on a Vita for extended periods (~1 hour or even longer, making sure to take a break for your eyes of course) without your hands cramping up UNLESS you are using this product. With this proudct, I was on a flight for 3.5 hours and played through Resident Evil 1 (PS1 classic) on my Vita with absolutely no problems.

I cannot recommend this product enough. Seriously, do not be on the fence about this thing. I am in love with it, and tempted to just buy hundreds of these because of how good they are.

Very comfortable but the grips close as you play making it useless.
There should be some way to lock the handles

4.0 out of 5 stars Finishes the psvita 14 Oct 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This add on really finishes off the vita, making it feel incredibly comfortable to hold. Though I believe that the same company have released a newer version that has extended triggers.

4.0 out of 5 stars No More Hand Cramp 17 Aug 2012
Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Now if you're familiar with the psp and pspgo and you have "large" hands (ie an adult) then you'll also be familiar with the awkward feeling to the controls and the occasional cramp. Now with the vita it's just as bad if not worse. Now you have the rear touchscreen, rear camera, and front touchscreen to contend with.

This Hori Officially Licensed Grip Attachment makes it a much more pleasant experience. You can now hold the vita like a large playstation controller with the grips extended, or just have a little more "meat" to handle with the grips closed. Holding the vita with one hand while using the touchscreens is no longer a balancing match or exercise in fingertip grip strength.

Then there's the quality of the Hori Officially Licensed Grip Attachment itself. The plastic used feels like a reasonable quality, probably won't survuve much of a drop (but then who really wants to see their vita hurtling towards the floor). The connector port for the usb cable is still easily accessable, so too are the game slot and the expansion port which are under the top hinge of the Hori Officially Licensed Grip Attachment. All you have to do is open the hinge and you can change cards easily. The Hori Officially Licensed Grip Attachmentholds the vita quite snuggly even without the top hinge so no need to worry about fumbling the two while changing cards on the fly.

I'm glad I decided to buy one and especially this one as the other's I've seen are a little cheap and flimsy looking and Hori do make some well made items. The only thing I would say is that the quality of the plastic could be improved and the top hinge mechanism could be improved as well, but this is only being extremely picky.

I ordered this for the same reason most other people do, the Vita is an uncomfortable mess of a handheld. I'm not saying most other devices are super comfy, if I was to describe my 3DS as comfy all of space time would come crashing down because it is anything but.

I can't remember the last time I sat there and though while typing a message on a touch screen smart phone that they should change all devices in the world into the touch screen QWERTY keyboards, I mean who doesn't like crippling forearm crams, carpal tunnel and bone warping arthritis? Yeah that is exaggerating but my point is, there aren't many devices that are made for comfort these days instead they are made to be smaller because smaller is somehow better.

Not for a handheld gaming device it isn't Sony! I can remember playing my Gameboy Advanced for hours and hours and hours as a kid. Yes my hands have grown in the 10 or so years since I was playing my Gameboy, and that will help but picking up my Gameboy now it is still no where near as uncomfortable to play than a Vita is.

This device is fantastic, not only does it feel well made, it isn't stupidly ostentatious like some of the others on here, it isn't just a silicon skin with some knobbly bits on the bottom. It feels wonderful after so long of feeling discomfort in my hands and wrists.

There is one slight issue I have found though unfortunately. When playing bumper heavy games (R and L) like Need for Speed Most Wanted for example the action of holding the handles with them fully extended and pushing down on the bumpers causes the handles to start closing. This isn't an issue for the most part because if you have any hands above that of a child's chances are you will find your fingers sitting in all of the crevices of the case.
