Praise for A Hopeless Romantic: 'Delicious.' Marie Claire 'It's a rollicking ride of joy, disappointment and self-discovery, which you'll want to devour in one sitting.' Daily Telegraph 'hard to resist.' Elle Magazine 'an endearing tale of broken and rescued hearts!' Heat 'A superior romcom with heart and soul.' Bella 'A contemporary romance that is as sparkly as its cover suggests.' Daily Mail 'Harriet Evans is back with another top-class, warm and funny novel.' Product Description
The warm and enchanting new novel from the bestselling author of 'Going Home'. Laura Foster is a hopeless romantic. It is her most endearing characteristic, yet consistently leads her into trouble. Friends and family look on with amused tolerance -- until Laura's inability to tell reality from romantic dreams causes betrayal and a broken heart. Taking refuge in Norfolk, Laura is bitterly aware that her rose-tinted glasses have to go. She swears off men, and all things romantic, for good -- until she meets Nick, the estate manager of a huge stately home. But Nick has a secret too. And it's one that Laura, however much she tries, can't get past her prejudice about. Just as she was stubbornly a die-hard romantic, so Laura is stubborn about there being no future for her and Nick. But will he manage to change her mind?

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure escapism!, 20 Nov 2007
By A. Bowden "Daphne Wodben" (London) - See all my reviews

This is the sort of book that takes you out of your mundane existence for as long as it takes you to read it. There is relatively little that is in anyway 'real life' about the story - it is a version of Cinderella, after all. How likely is it that you will meet a Marquis when you visit a stately home? But none of that matters because this is a genuinely heart-warming book that most people (particularly hopeless romantics!) are guaranteed to love. Can't wait for Harriet's next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for her next book! , 29 Nov 2007
By Denny (Scotland) - See all my reviews
I haven't ever felt compelled to write a review before now and I have read bookcases full of chick lit, but this book was just perfect! The setting couldn't have been more idyllic; big beautiful stately home in the countryside and Nick ticked all the boxes as the love interest. The book may have been a little bit predictable but I didn't care as I was looking for a happy ending and wanted it to go the way it did! It may follow all the romantic clichés but it was great to escape into this perfect world.

4.0 out of 5 stars Make sure you have the whole weekend free!, 1 Jan 2007

This review is from: A Hopeless Romantic (Hardcover)
This book is incredibly un-put-down-able! There is a quote on the dust sleeve from Sophie Kinsella describing the book as 'Fabulous' and it's not surprising she liked it as the writing has a very similar feel and the book was as addictive as Sophie Kinsella's usually are.
In saying this it did things that other romantic novels often don't; it left you satisfied. I often finish a romantic novel and I'm happy by the conclusion but wish I could know more about how the characters work together, whether they really are a perfect couple or whether it is in part biased by being from the female protagonists POV. Perhaps that makes me cynical, but this book didn't give me that feeling, it felt just right.
This book is one for a rainy weekend where you sit in bed with a cup of tea and a box of tissues. It will grip you, involve you, make you cry and make you smile. Definitely worth a read :)
