5.0 out of 5 stars An Incredible Story, 27 Jul 1999
By A Customer
This was easily one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. A well-written, inspirational story of a courageous, driven young man (and his mother) who refused to be held back by his circumstances. Would that all young people in his situation were as focused, brave and driven to succeed as Cedric. This book should be required reading for every student in junior high school. It moved me to tears no less than four times!

5.0 out of 5 stars A courageous, compelling story, 22 Jul 1999
By A Customer
I found Cedric Jennings an inspiration. The reward of A Hope in the Unseen is to follow someone through their struggles and finally see them make it. Cheers to Cedric and the author Ron Suskind!

5.0 out of 5 stars Young African-American male struggles to achieve, 17 Jul 1999
By A Customer
Cedric Jennings, a young African-American male, succeeds in overcoming the odds in his quest to escape ghetto life in Washington D.C. and attends an Ivy League university. This is a refreshing profile of an African-American who looks for success through academics rather than sports. Anyone who has ever felt out of place or inadequate can relate to Cedric's struggles as he tries to fit in the Ivy League world. I found it to be very enlightening.
