It’s been a rough life for Ellie, Hannah, Josie and Shoo – all ex-cons with nothing to show for their lives – but not for much longer.
Today won’t be like any other day. Today they embark on the final stage of their long-held plan: To live out the rest of their lives on a beach in Barbados, courtesy of £3million stolen from Ellie's lying, cheating, violent gangster husband. If all goes to plan… but it doesn’t.
A cruel twist of fate, finds them on the run, as the glamorous girls end up in hiding in Hope Springs, a remote Scottish village, without passports, without a plan and more or less without hope.
If they can just hide their true identities and keep their heads down long enough to make a break for it - but Hope Springs has other things in store.

This is the best drama series I have seen in a very long time. Fast-paced and totally gripping it has had me on the edge of my seat as I followed all the twists and turns of the plot. The characters of Ellie and the girls, Sadie and all the others are so well-developed that I soon felt as if I knew them all intimately. The Scottish scenery is too gorgeous for words and I felt as if I was breathing in that champagne clear air and walking the landscape. I have already watched it twice, each episode I wanted to know what was would happen next while at the same time wanting to linger in the moment. Eight episodes is far too short. I can't possibly understand why the BBC would declare that Hope Spring " did not reach it's target audience". Just bow to popular demand and give us a sequel, quick as!

Yes, hope does spring that there will be a sequel ... come on BBC, get on with it.
This is certainly something one could watch again and it would still be brilliant the second time around. With it's great cast of leading ladies, clever storylines with fun and interesting twists and turns I would definately recommend purchasing and watching this.

I loved watching this on Sunday nights pn BBC One and can't wait to watch it again on DVD. A great cast with some great performances especially by Alex Kingston (ER), Anette Crosbie (One Foot in the Grave) and Lorraine McIntosh (Deacon Blue). Once established the story lines just got better and better and the Scottish scenery was always spectacular. Come on BBC give us another series.

Gripping! Loved it! All the characters really grow on you!
