Product Description

CD Description

Siphiwo Nsthebe was one of the truly great voices of the new South Africa, and travelled an extraordinary journey, from an impoverished upbringing set against the backdrop of apartheid-era South Africa to singing opera in prestigious international venues in front of royalty and world leaders. With a repertoire including arias by Mozart, Puccini and Verdi, Sip's tenor voice has been compared to the great Enrico Caruso.
"Hope" was due to be sung by Sip at the opening ceremony of the World Cup 2010 and is an uplifting track that fuses together several different musical genres: opera, African beats and a swelling crescendo of orchestral strings. The song also incorporates a message of compassion written and spoken by Nelson Mandela - the first time that the former South African President has appeared on a musical recording.
Hope, produced by legendary producers Trevor Horn, Steve Mac and South African born Lebo M includes the enduring classics "Something Inside So Strong", "You'll Never Walk Alone", "Abide With Me", "I Vow to Thee My Country" and "Ave Maria".

I first heard about the tragedy of this young man's death on Sunday while watching the Piers Morgan programme on South Africa. Immediately I started to research everything about this man and his wonderful voice. Already the World Cup has seen much tragedy, the death of this young man to meningitis, the coach crash yesterday and the sad death of Nelson Mandela's great granddaughter. I am buying this album because, quite simply, I love a good tenor and Siphiwo WAS such a tenor and would surely have gone on to be oe of the world's greats! So, so sad. My condolences to his family.

I have heard Sip sing several times in the UK and was totally devastated when he passed away in May just days before he was to perform at the opening of the World Cup and release this debut album. He was an amazing man with a God given talent and would surely have become one of the ALL time great tenors! I was brought up listening to Mario Lanza and Pavarotti and Sip is the first singer I have felt truely compared.I am just so grateful that the family decided to go ahead with the release of this album. Don't miss out on this amazing voice! God Bless and Keep you Sip.

This incredibly gifted, young singer was due to sing, and therefore open the World Cup Football in South Africa this year but died suddenly at the tragically young age of 35 from meningitis. It's tragic because his voice is incredible, he sings mainly opera but contemporary songs and hymns and believe me, he is just outstanding.

I caught a few minutes of him with Piers Morgan in an interview he did a while back. Sip lets rip and suddenly bursts into song and this incredibly powerful, sweet and golden voice just took off, soaring serenely up into the air and hovered for a few moments as if basking in the golden sunlight bathing the area. It was the most wonderful thing I've seen and heard in such a long time it made me a bit teary I have to admit, and the thought of this amazing talent, this rich, huge voice - gone! I know life isn't meant to be fair, and illness and the end of life is no respecter of age, ability or status and seems to indescriminantly pick people to take as if by a sudden whim.

This time it was not fair, and if there is any lightness in this sadness it is that Sip made this incredibly beautiful CD before he passed away and it has only just been released. I love the sound of his incredible voice, soaring effortlessley as it does. If anything keeps the memory of this talented young man fresh in the mind and the emotion in the heart it is this CD.

Fantastic voice.
Excellent cd but such a pity that it will be the only one due to Siphiwo's early demise. Sad loss of a fabulous voice. Get this cd as it exceeds all expectations.
