Having been introduced to Foy Vance at The Bedford when I was taken by a friend and unexpectedly not only saw Foy, but also the great Pete Townshend and Rachel Fuller, I've seen him again since, in Norwich, and am going to London for the Bedford Bandstand launch night at Indig02 (the old Milennium Dome) where he's playing, along with Jamie Woon and Lucie Silvas.
If you don't know his music, you should give it a listen. This album is superb, the songs are well written and sung with emotion and feeling, something which makes Foy's live performances so special. The artwork for the album, by Foy's wife Joanne, is also excellent and a lot of thought has gone into the cd case and inserts, so you can have a visual experience as well as an audio one!
'Elshaneed' is my favourite track, closely followed by 'Gabriel and the vagabond' and 'Indiscriminate act of kindness' and........ yes, you've guessed, I love them all.
If you like blues, soul, folk and generally good music, you'll love this!

it has been absolutely ages since i've 'fallen in love' with an album before i've even finished listening to it all the way through...
this is powerful, passionate, heart-stirring, authentic music;
and i will be buying several copies of family and friends for Xmas!!!
plus the sleeve notes are very original and beautiful too

Foy Vance! I have been eagerly awaiting this album for some time & its now here! I knew it would be great, i was not dissapointed in the slightest. From the opening bluesy charged "Be With Me" to the closing bars of "Two Shades of Hope" the album is packed with wonderful melodies, powerful lyrics and Foy's brilliant voice. He packs so much authenticity into his songs, he really means what he is singing, that is evident as each song plays. You should love this album, if you dont i fear you may be deaf or stupid! Honestly though if you only buy one cd this summer make it this one...........................a must for music lovers.

Have a couple of listens

very, very good
Acoustic guitar, piano, drums, bass, great voice. This is a brilliantly performed album of moving and interesting folk-blues songs that bear repeated listening.

Hope
Wonderful album. Foy Vance is amazing. Songs from the heart sung with such feeling and power. Indiscriminate Act of Kindness is one of the best songs ever.
