After only 2 months, my machine broke down. On phoning to get a repair man out, the person I spoke to tried to sell me the extended warranty. I repeated that I'd only had it 2 months and was told "well, there's no such thing as a free lunch"!! I was astonished and managed to reply that I did not think nearly £300 was a free lunch and I'd expect a washer to last longer than 2 months. I then had to make an appointment; not possible to make one convenient for me so I had to take a days leave from work.
The repair man also tried to sell me the extended warranty (plus an overpriced machine cleaner). It turned out to be a defective part. Once it was replaced the washer worked ok but I have no confidence in the control panel. The buttons for temperature etc have to be pressed several times and I don't think it will last long. Only plus is that the 1600 spin speed is useful for towels and the machine does not seem to vibrate overmuch. Not much to be pleased about.
I'll never buy Hoover again, mostly because of the rude person I spoke to and the poor customer service in getting a repairman out to suit me. They don't seem to realise that there are plenty of other companies out there offering the same product for customers to choose from.

Having bought this machine in a Comet sale just 2 years ago, I am so glad I didn't pay full price for it. I have this morning come downstairs to find my kitchen flooded from an economy wash which I put on last night. This machine has bounced around my kitchen on the spin cycle on every use in the last 2 years. I am not even a heavy user, living on my own. 3 loads a week!! I have been unable to use the 1600 spin ever since I first bought it, as I would have to stand against it to stop it from coming so far from the wall it would unplug itself. And noisy, I've never heard so much banging. Having now had this flood, I have read other people's reviews, and it would appear that Hoover in their infinite wisdom, have put out a very defective product onto the market, the comments and reviews saying the same thing. 'Constantly goes off balance weight', 'flooding kitchen' 'broken motherboard' and the list goes on. I am aware that Hoover will not compensate me for the damage to my property, and in those circumstances, I shall be tipping this and buying another make immediately!!!

    HI

I am just writing to warn you about this item. Mine has lasted 16 months and destroyed itself. The bottom balance block has vibrated loose and broken from the drum tub rendering it useless. With this it bounced across the floor and nearly ripped the electrical cable out also dinting the front. I then tried the "hoover response" huuuff . I am a Maintenance Technician myself and explained that this looks to be a design fault but the response from hoover was that if that was the case they would have contacted me ( oh yeah of course they would )I had two choices which either would cost me over £100. I went ahead in good faith. After waiting in Three hours for the engineer to arrive I explained to him the problem thinking foolishly he would repair it. His response was "I will order the parts" and that was without an inspection. WHY DIDNT HE BRING THEM WITH HIM as I explained to hoover the problem. Which sounds a standard problem. He said it would be another week so I cancelled the ****** lot and bought a BOSCH. Never never again HOOVER

We purchased this machine in June last year, in November it would not spin the repair man came out and said it was the control panel that was u.s he said he didn't have one so changed the motor? He said that he would order the new control board but it wouldn't be in for a week, two weeks later without the use of a washing machine the repair man phoned and fitted a brand new control board.
Two months passed then we had the same issue again this time the fitter was booked and arrived a day early, called me at work and asked where I was I left work got home and again we had the diagnosis that it may be the motor, I informed the fitter (the same fitter as before) that he had already changed the motor he then informed me that it was the control board again and proceeded to fit a new one, on leaving told me that it was a bad batch and may have to come back.
One day later it went wrong again with the same symptoms, he has been today with his manager and told us that there is nothing wrong with the machine and that if it doesn't spin we are to open the door balance the wet washing by hand and try again. £300 for a washing machine that doesn't work great work Hoover stick to vacuum cleaners if you can get them to work or should we use a dust pan and Brush?
