My favourite song would have to be 'Innocnece' which is propbably the best song since 'Let Her cry' or 'Goodbye'. I have to say I was beginning to doubt if they would ever produce the like of these songs again. I am pleased to say they put my fears to rest the second I heard 'Innocence'. My favourite up temp track is 'Space' (although 'Go And Tell Him' comes a very close second). These songs remind you why good music is worth waiting for..
An amazing and outstanding album thanks to Darius' powerful vocals and a band that can really play...buy it, play it, love it!
The album is a slow burner - but after 3 plays I fell in love with it and was hooked.
"Space", "Deeper Side" and "Go And Tell Him (Soup Song)" are typical Hootie rock songs that soon have you singing along, whilst "Innocence" is epic and sounds like something American rockers Train could have written.
The soulful, funky song "Little Brother" is completely different to Hootie's usual fare but it is refreshing to hear the band stretching out and dipping their toes in other styles. My own personal highlight of the album is the ballad "Woody".
Darius Rucker's vocals are simply outstanding and the song is achingly beautiful.
Simply put, if you love good, honest rock and roll music, played by four guys who show conviction and compassion then this is the album for you. I love this album.
In my opinion this album is a natural progression for Hootie. It's giving us more of what we have come to expect and if the aim of this album was to capture their 'live' sound, as someone who has seen Hootie live, I belive they have achieved this.
