The ICF changed the entire football violence landscape; they were professionals from all walks of life.... Designer clothes-wearing, first class travel using and above all, organised. They made prior appointments with rival clubs firms and travelled first class to meet them, always with their special friend Stanley . Once a humble builder s tool, the Stanley knife became the weapon of choice for those involved. No football colours, colours were for scarfers (normal supporters), no singing and if it was a drab northern ground probably no match as the meet had been arranged for elsewhere. City centres were reduced to little more that looted shops and burnt out cars, innocent by-standers civilians looked on in horror as the rival firms fought with each other, and the police. No longer were the participants mindless tribes of knuckle dragging youths, the ICF were a new breed of otherwise successful, mostly well off people who got off on violence for its own sakes. Football had become the vehicle, the public at large the audience. You could tell that you had been turned over by the ICF , they had business cards printed with the legend you have just met the famous ICF, have a nice day , and after Stanley had paid his respects the unlucky person got a calling card as a memento. This is the original Thames documentary on the "Inter City" firm not "Inner City" as stated above, complete with "The Warriors" theme in the opening credits and a cameo from Cass Pennant, former "top boy" and now famous author and hooliogist.
This fascinating piece of history is worth watching for the haircuts, clothes (Benetton, Lyle and Scott, Lacoste, to name but a few) and cars alone and was filmed in the run up to, and aftermath of, the Heysel disaster in 1985. It thus marks a watershed in football history and clearly shows how much the modern game has changed as a spectator sport since Heysel.
If your looking for fight scenes then rent a Steven Seagal film but if you are interested in football history and/ or stood on the terraces in the late 70s and early 80s then you will identify with this.
It's a pity that the film wasn't followed up 20 years on, examining what, if anything, happened to the characters featured.
Probably a classic with the passage of even more time.

I was very dissapointed with the film,thinking it was going to be very much the same as the original documentary,highlighting for the first time organised football violence.exposing the ICF on there organised missions to prove that they are the number one hooligan firm.anyone who may have seen the original Hooligan,i am sure will feel very much the same.why did this release contain only a fraction of the real issues that went on ? maybe it was simply to get a 15 certificate,to get the film released in the first place.

The reason for me writing this review is to amke sure no-one else wastes their money on this product. It was boring, pathetic and dull to watch, I had expected more research and videofootage but..in the end I just wondered why I had spent my money on this item.

hooligan dvd 2002
Its a good insight to the minds of the ICF.Although with dated tv interviews the sense of excitement / fear is still there when viewing the football footage. Read more
