The original Hoodwinked is one of my favourite movies of all time. I love the characters, the clever plot based on 4 witnesses to the same incident and the great side gags that run throughout it. I picked that up on DVD in the US about 6 months before it appeared in theatres over here in the UK and have watched it many times.
I have been eagerly awaiting Hoodwinked Too ever since and,as I travel to the US several times a year, had hoped to catch it at a theatre while I was over there. I heard it was being made but the release date kept shifting. Eventually it came out about 18 months later than the original date and went quickly to DVD.
Watching it, it's easy to see why. While the first movie was clever and original the follow up is weak and unimaginative, borrowing heavily from more successful films that came out while it was being made. The humour lacking and the dynamic just feels wrong. Such a shame given its predecessor.
If you've seen and loved the original Hoodwinked give this sequel a miss. If you haven't seen the original buy it instead of this one - you'll enjoy it so much more.
