I like the album I purchased. Initially I heard tracks played on Radio 4 and hearing about Minnie's "hard" life I decided I would purchase some of her work. The quality of the recordings does leave something to be desired however the strength of the tracks, very reminiscent of 'Robert Johnson's' "Delta Blues, really puts you in that Era. Of course music was very different back then and to be really good you had to earn your place. I would have really like to have seen Minnie in live performance as I believe she was a bit of a legend back then in a very male dominated time.

In the sleeve notes Bob Dylan says 'Memphis Minnie's slyly loquacious, harsh and as rugged as they come' and I agreed as soon as I'd looked up 'loquacious' in the dictionary.
Voodoo, death, love, loss and the odd double entendre crop up in this Snapper Music/Complete Blues collection with the recording quality ranging from good to very good for the era but I find that this record label has a tendency not to foist the dregs onto you, unlike some who release any old garbage without a second thought to quality control.
It's mainly acoustic based with Minnie on the guitar but there's a few bulked up songs with a band that veers more towards R'n'B than blues.
All in all it's 5 well spent.
