Another great function of this fan is it runs quietly with a sound level of approx 63 db(A). The re-enforced safety grill provides extra reassurance for anyone with young children, and this grill is easy to take off for simple cleaning should you require to do so. With a 3 year warranty this compact fan is ideal for the summer months or to provide air circulation all year round.

Cheap and very cheerful!,

This review is from: Honeywell HT-112E 12" Oscillating Table Fan - Black (Kitchen & Home)
I bought this desktop fan for the hot (but sadly, very brief) summer of '09 to keep me cool when working- and occasionally playing- at my desk through those long days and nights. I didn't want to spend a premium and was prepared to get a cheap bit of kit, if just to last through this one season. Luckily this unit did more than this.
At 12" in diameter the fan does a good job of keeping me cool up to 1-3 meters away. I wouldn't have thought you'd need any bigger unless you want to keep a large room at a cool temperature. It's obviously flat-packed when you receive it, and the idea is you construct it yourself on arrival. It's a doddle to do and I was up and running in a few minutes. The settings go from 0-3, giving you a good range of cooling options. There is a tilt on the unit, but trust me, you probably won't want to bother with it: it uses a screw which you simply tighten/loosen as you want, but the angles you can adjust it to aren't worth the effort at about 5 degrees either way. Maybe mine's just very stiff, who knows. But your best bet is probably just to put it on something higher or lower as required. It also has a standard rotation which is easily turned on/off with a switch on the top next to the fan speed knob. The fan is mostly plastic apart from the cage which is metal. Overall built quality is pretty good considering the price, and I see this lasting me years and years (partly because it'll only be out in the summer). Nice fan with more than enough power to keep me chilled out in whatever heat nature decides to grace us with!

Great fan with couple small problems,

First I want to say this is the quietest table fan I've ever owned. I've had too many noisy fans and when I saw this being marketed as quiet, I immediately got my hands on one. Build quality seems also be much sturdier than most fans on the market.
There are however couple of things which prevent me from giving five stars. First is the tilt adjustment, which allows only about 10 degrees movement upwards and none at all downwards. Second is the location of the power switch. It's located at the top rather than at the base like most fans. It can be awkward, if you're for example lying on the sofa and can't reach for the knob. Still, it looks like this is the best table fan I've yet to own.
