This is the Beehive's best album; their sunny California garage-band sound resonated on Let It Bee, their debut, but the ingredients of essential power pop bound together perfectly in the sophomore years...

The album kicks off with the criminally under-appreciated 'Monsters and Angels', the group's biggest hit from the album, a slow-burn rocker with a great sing-a-long chorus. The follow-up single was a cover of The Partridge Family's 'I Think I Love You'. Often thought as the definitive version of the (much covered) song, VOTB's version is rousing and lively, injecting the song with the kind of energy that's been absent in all subsequent takes. The third and final single culled from the album was 'Perfect Place', the closing track, given the remix treatment, the song only scraped into the Top 40. The album itself was more successful, reaching the UK Top 20 a couple of places lower than 'Let It Bee' had.

Three moderate chart hits aside, 'Honey Lingers' is boosted by uncharacteristically strong album tracks (in the days when ten tracks was the norm), most of which showcase chief-writer Tracey Bryn's lyrical abilities, bending snappy observations around the uptempo melodies: 'Adonis Blue' could have been a hit in its own right; 'Just Like You' centers itself around cheeky metaphors and 'I'm Shooting Cupid' takes a stance against textbook romance.

Clocking in at just thirty-something minutes, the album whizzes by in a cloud of perky pop and some insightful observations, breaking the style for only a couple of ballads, cranking the guitars, Woody's drumming talents and summery songs that beg repeated listens. They certainly don't make 'em like this anymore.

Voice of the beehive are my all time favourite band. And with tracks like "Monsters & Angels" and "I Think I Love you" on the album, it makes it an essential buy for any people who like this sort of music. Monsters and Angels is my favourite Voice Of The beehive track. Unfortunatley the band weren't around for long and they did not get the recognition that they truly deserved. But their music lives on on this superb album!

Yes you would be hard put to find many who remembered the Californina girls who were never off the TV mainly kids programmes, talking about their famous father who had been a 4 Prep and about the song Down By The Station which was based on a nursery rhyme and which they thought of recording though nothing came of that one because after 3 albums they went back to the States.
Melissa and Tracey were the daughter and step daughter of Bruce Belland who encoraged them in their musical activities but they came here and started from scratch,an image of petticoat girls who liked English Indie bands
With many interviews it made a change that the 2 girls were each others favorite people and were almost in love with each other-this was defintely not the Kinks.
In fact a photo exists of Melissa and Tracey kissing each other but there was nothing abnormal it was just a statement
They were on the Wide Awake Club and interviewed by Roland Rat and a hideous bulbous cartoon character called Gilbert and would soon find an opportunity to talk about their fashion preferences which centered around petticoats.
Between 1986 and 1991 there were 2 hit albums both with punning titles the first on eht title of the last Beatles album and this one which was probably too far away from most peoples' brains but as one of them explained it was from a Latin word "cunnilingus" which is usually found in sex magazines. The final album Sex Misery had the best sleeve and the worst title
Contemporary with the VOFB were the Bangles
