My four year old had been having some trouble at nursery, torn between following the rules and not wanting to get his friend in trouble. This was a GREAT book for us, and gave us something to talk about on every page, and really clarified some concepts for us. It is complicated, this 'truth' versus 'lies' thing when we DON"T want our children to say 'I don't like it' when they open a gift, but do want them to respond truthfully in other situations. He has requested this book for a bedtime story every night for a week, and wants to talk it over too, so he's definitely getting a lot from it.

As children's books are written, this one wouldn't be the type that calls their attentions on either pictures or the way is written. My kids never asked to read it again.

The books on this collection by Cheri Meiners are wonderful. They discuss simple problems which small children of pre-school and young school age face, including how to learn to listen, to share, to care about others, to follow the rules, amongst many others. The books are written in simple language and richly illustrated, so young ones learning to read will benefit from the content as well as the opportunity to practice their reading. A must-have for parents!
