Just a quick note about this excellent set.
The music is simply perfection, you won't find better. I listen to this not as Tango, but simply incredibly moving music. The performances are legendary, so enough said about that.
As for this release - this brings together the all the tango related Gidon Kremer recordings for Nonesuch under one roof (as it were). As a bonus there's a previously unreleased live CD of the Astor Quartet.
Each of the previous releases have been reduced to digipac format (card sleeves). All the original booklets are included, along with a brief new one to cover the entire box set. Some may quibble about the digipacs, since I read that a lot of people have trouble getting CD's in and out of them. These do suffer that fate, but to be honest I'm not sure why it bothers people so much. Make them more loosely fitting and they'd fall out on their own... and I've never had a playback problem.....
Anyway - this is a great release at a great price point. I find nothing here to complain about. On the contrary, to have all this great music available at all - let alone for the small amount of money being asked - is something we should all applaud and support. Thanks Nonesuch!
