This set is called 'The Complete Third Series', and appears to be the third Freemantle release. However, all over the web (and in other DVD releases) the episodes are grouped by 'Seasons' rather than 'Series'.
The first Freemantle release contains Seasons 1 and 2 (that have 9 and 4 episodes respectively), and the second release has Season 3. So this box set is Season 4.
There are no extras, but the video quality is good.

This series was based on a book written by the creator of The Wire. It is based is Baltimore as was The Wire and it gives a feel for the streets as you might expect from David Simon. The show was produced by the creator of OZ. Put these two together and BINGO you are on to a winner. One of the best cop dramas ever made.

Just great - gritty Baltimore detective series. OK, it dates back to 1995 but it is a worthy forerunner to The Wire and that ilk. Not always happy endings as seen in Hill Street Blues (brilliant, by the way in its time)or the later NYPD Blue (not always happy there come to think of it!)

I still feel that "Hill Street Blues" has the edge on this series, however having said that this series has to be up there with the great's in law and order programs.. Read more

For the NYPD BLUE aficionados, a great procedural series with great psychological insight.Most highly recommended.
