4.0 out of 5 stars Homicide second season 15 April 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase
Second season is still hugely enjoyable, though I have a sad premonition that in future seasons the fat ugly detectives will tend to be replaced by beautiful people, and the episodes, which vary ín quality, will all have to end with a shoot-up and sting in the tail. Some episodes are a bit too sentimental and cute for their own good. Still, if it ain't The Wire it ain't Kojak either and it must have raised the standard of writing enormously. Detective Munch is one of life's small pleasures and I hope his role is never downsized.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great entertainment 22 Jun 2009
Homicide Life on the Streets is a great series with a mixture of human interest in the characters which can be sad at times - but also extremely funny. Belzer (who is later in the Law & Order SVU series) is, as usual, outstanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best tv shows ever! 20 May 2009
I have only watched the first couple of seasons of homicide but it is one of the best police shows ever created mainly because of the humour. Being based on David Simon's excellent book, one is often shocked to discover that the stories which seem the most implasible are actually based on real life cases.
