Book Description

This winning combination of very funny puns and clever satire is the latest collection of wordplays from Champion punster David R. Yale, whose earlier book, Pun Enchanted Evenings, won the 2011 Global eBook Award for humor.

Yale's collection of 823 wildly original word plays includes droll daffynitions that turn your understanding of common words insight out, and playful pun stories with priceless PUNchlines.

Covering almost every subject from airplanes to zoology, Yale's puns about doctors, relationships, cats & dogs, lawyers, teenagers, food, knights, Greek gods, writers, farmers, bankers, politics -- and lots more -- guarantee a full 1,000 gigglebytes of belly laughs.

In addition to Yale's puns, and information on new scientific studies proving the mental superiority of punsters, HomesPun Humor showcases the work of 16 of the world's best punsters, including O. Henry Pun-Off, Punderdome®, and Punsr champs!

Further, HomesPun Humor reveals confidential insider information you won't find anywhere else:

• The secret of efficient hay farming. (Slow mow shun!)

• The name of an opera about smiling cows. (Low-and-grin!)

• Why the army won't serve second helpings of ice cream. (That would be re-treating!)

• What must you never plant on a green roof. (Leeks!)

• Leading doctor's secret for getting over the grippe. (Study French. You'll soon become flu went!)

• What do you call a stolen Venetian boat? (Gone-dola!)

Punsters and language lovers will find it hard to put this book down. But Yale's entertaining style makes it impossible to overdo wit!

Homes Pun Humor by David R. Yale is a Healthy Relationship Press publication, released in September 2013. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

We've all heard that phrase "No Pun Intended". In this book the pun IS intended. There are over one hundred pages of puns and plays on words. I am amazed that David can think up this many puns or "quips". I like to keep this type of book around for many reasons. For one thing, it makes me think a little. They are good brain exercises. Secondly, these are funny! Who doesn't like a good joke? There were only a handful of these phrases that you wouldn't want to repeat to your grandmother, but mostly these are jokes that can be told to any audience.
This type of book doesn't have to be read all at once. In fact, I didn't just sit down and read it cover to cover like I would a novel. I picked it up and read a little of it in the evenings until I had read all the jokes/puns etc. Certainly, there are few that are "cheesy", but that actually made them even funnier. But, there were some that had me groaning and rolling my eyes. LOL
All I can say is that the author as a unique talent for word plays and has carved out a niche for himself few could top.
Overall this is a delightful book to use if you need a clean joke for an occasion, or if just want a chuckle or two, or to give your brain a workout.
I give this one an A.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of History's Greatest Authors 7 Jan. 2014
By Jerzy Gwiazdowski - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
The un-Twained eye often overlooks the Mark of greatness, but rest assured: the Marquez upon David Yale. This book is full of wall-to-Walt Whit, man. Is this real life? I’m Pynchon myself. Still have a few items to Chekhov your shopping list? You might think you’re too Poe to afford this book, but trust me, you’ll get your Wordsworth. Just Woolf this book down. Straight, no Chaucer. Then you Orwell on your way! It doesn’t require that Euripides other books off the shelf, it’s so thin that your bookcase will stay Rumi.

Still not convinced? Haw-ing and Hem-ingway too much? What the Faulkner you waiting for? Don’t act like a Dumas. Buy this book, and make it Swift!

5.0 out of 5 stars Review from Closed the Cover 30 Dec. 2013
By Ashley LaMar - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Puns are a funny thing. Readers either love them or hate them; rarely does someone find themselves feeling indifferent toward puns, wordplay and satire. David R. Yale’s witty wordplay book, “HomesPun Humor” is hilarious to pun-lovers like myself and is guaranteed to elicit more than a few chuckles. Yale’s earlier book, Pun Enchanted Evening, won the 2011 Global eBook Award for humor which caused expectations to be high for his second work. HomesPun Humor doesn’t disappoint and is sure to be loved by anyone looking for a light-hearted work of humor.

The book includes very clever definitions (or daffynitions) of words such as:
Clap-board: Type of siding performers like on their houses
Tap Dancing: When water waltzes out of the faucet
Base Bawl: When a T-Ball player breaks down after he is tagged out at first base.

There are also very witty short stories that always end with a humorous play on words and leave readers giggling aloud. The punchlines always deliver and that is what helps to make this entire book a winner.

All that can really be said about this book is, “If you are looking for a book to make you laugh, that doesn’t require a heavy time commitment and will bring a smile to your face then pick it up and enjoy!” It is exactly as it claims to be – a compendium of guffaws, giggles and mirth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of laughs 2 Oct. 2013
By Texas Birder - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
For those who like a good laugh, this book of original puns, daffynitions, riddles, and shaggy dog stories fits the bill. Many of these will make you laugh out loud, so be careful reading them in the bathroom at work.
The puns are divided into subject areas, such as animals, sports, and education, so you're sure to find a pun to fit any occasion.
A special section at the end has some of the best puns (both one-liners, and long-form) from various pun competitions and online forums around the English speaking world.

As an inveterate punster, who can't pass up any opportunity to fall on his words, I appreciate the work and thinking that went into this lovely volume.

David Yale has put together a great amount of humorous, sidespliting and very interesting puns from so many categories. He is truly one of the best punsters around. I enjoyed his book immensely and have bought a number of them for gift giving to friends & relatives. It is also a great book for a person who is looking to do mind exercises. It keeps your mind active and constantly seeking and searching for the right fit using words. Loved the book and highly recommend it. James Kousoulas Ph.D
