A complete guide to candle making 26 July 2011

I was first introduced to candle making when my daughter asked for a candle making kit for her birthday. Not having any idea on where to begin, I grabbed a copy of Michelle Bosch's kindle book "Homemade Candle Secrets", and read it with my daughter.

After reading through the book I must say I think I was more excited to give candle making a try than my daughter was. Based on the great information contained in the book we decided not to buy a kit, as the book provided us with all the information we needed on what materials we would need.

Michelle takes you by the hand step by step through the entire candle making process, and leaves nothing out. She explains the different types of candles you can make, gives you an estimated cost for the materials needed, and goes into great detail on each piece of equiptment you will need.

Another section of the book covers candle making safety (a must), and different online resources to add to your candle making enjoyment,

This is a very comprehensive guide to candle making and would recommend it to anyone looking to get into the hobby of candle making. It has brought my daughter and I even closer to each other, providing us with another hobby we both enjoy each weekend! The book is worth many times more thaan the .99 cent price tag!

I bought this as a novice candle maker in hopes that this would give me some idea of how to start. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. This book does give a lot of information about the history of candles, and covers the different kinds that are out there, but it doesn't actually tell you how, or give any candle making instructions.

This is in general a good read. But if you are looking for an instructional book that gives you the specifics on how to actually get going, maybe this isn't the one for you.

As someone who has always enjoyed the smells of wonderful scented candles, I recently made the decision to try to make my own. Unfortunately, I was lost on where to even begin, let alone what I would need to start making my own candles at home.

Well, that's where Michelle's book came into play. I found the book on here and saw the low price and decided to give it a chance. After purchasing it and briefly skimming over the content, I now have a full shopping list prepared for next weeks trip to my craft store.

I am very glad I decided to give this book a chance, and I am truly looking forward to trying the candle recipes included.
