5.0 out of 5 stars My first book by Rochelle Alers 29 Nov 2003
By Sanas E. Murray - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I read this book over Chritmas break last year and I have become a big fan of her work. I mean at first I didn't know that Tyler Cole was apart of a whole family who had stories about their lives too.
Tyler Cole is a doctor, 41, and Dana Nichols, 33, came back to Mississippi to find out what really happen to her parents twenty-three years ago. The book is a love story mixed in with a mysetry. Tyler knew that he wanted Dana for her wife. He just had to convince her of that. And that's what he did. She met him and in two weeks they were engaged.
Within six weeks, he had met, bedded, wedded, and impregnated Dana with a little boy later named after Tyler's father, Martin. Now that's the kind of man I like.
I haven't gotten around to reading the whole Hideaway series, but I guess that means I have something to look forward too. Good job on HOMECOMING.

4.0 out of 5 stars Homecoming 23 Oct 2002
By Crystal Hayden - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Rochelle Alers latest book features Dana Nichols an Investigating reporter and Tyler Cole a research OB/GYN. Dana has come back to Hillsboro, MS to bury her last family member and also to try to clear her father's name in the murder/suicide of her mother. What she didn't plan is finding and falling in love with Hillsboro's sexy new doctor Tyler Cole.
Tyler was ask by the Surgeon General to relocate to Hillsboro and do a study on infant mortality. When he arrives there he falls in love with the small country town and builds a house. When he had the house design he just wanted to make sure there was enought room for when his family comes to visit. He never thought that he would need the space for his future wife and children. Being dedicated doctor he always considered himself married to his work. But when he rescues Dana, he is instantly attracted to her beauty and determination.
You will be drawn into this story from the Prolugue and not be able to put the book down until you are finished. I only have two things that I didn't like and they were: the climax seemed rushed at the end. To the point were you think you missed something and there were some typing errors that a proofreader should have caught. But once you get over that this was another excellent book by Ms Alers. It was nice to be brought up to date with the other family members from her previous books.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of My Favorite Families 5 Nov 2002
By Sean D. Young - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Tyler Simmons Cole decided not to go into the Family Business, but instead he wanted to go into Medicine. OB/GYN was his field of choice. He was involved in a program that targeted areas where infant low birth weight was increasing. He wanted to give women who would not otherwise receive good pre-natal and post-natal care a chance to become mothers of healthy babies. This assignment took him to a small town called Hillsboro, Mississippi.
Tyler was not much on gossip, but the town's doctor killing his wife and then later himself. The doctor's daughter was in the house when he killed his wife. Tyler meets the infamous doctor's daughter as he rescues her from the town's known beggar. Tyler is instantly attracted to Dana.
Dana Nichols is an investigative report who came back to Hillsboro to bury her dear grandmother. She also wanted to put to rest the circumstances around her parents deaths. Dana an exact replica of her beautiful mother shocked some of the who hadn't seen her since her since she was a child.
Dana is taken by Tyler but is hesitant because of her past relationship. She didn't want to get involved with anyone because she was only going to be in Hillboro four months. Tyler had something else in mind for Dana.
I don't want to give everything away, but I do want to end my review with this:
I think Dana's fear of abandonment is evident in this story and Tyler was just the person to reassure her he wasn't going anywhere. He would protect her with his own life.
It is always good to reunite with family and friends. I hate we didn't get to see Matthew and Eve Sterling.
Ms. Alers is one of my ultimate favorite authors. I love the way she tells a story. She always, always, always references a scripture in her stories as does my other favorite author Brenda Jackson. They both are always on the mark with their scriptures and I love them for that.
The last installment for this family and friends saga is RENEGADE and from what I'm hearing this series will go out with a bang!

5.0 out of 5 stars SIMPLY FABULOUS 14 Dec 2002
By "hiddentreazure" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I LOVED THIS BOOK.THE AUTHOR DID A WONDERFUL JOB WITH THE CHARACTERS.AS ALWAYS! MS.ALERS CONTINUES TO SHINE. I HAVE NEVER READ A BOOK OF HERS THAT WASN'T INTERESTING AND OR KEPT MY ATTENTION UNTIL THE VERY END. OTHER WRITERS CAN LEARN FROM HER.I HOPE THAT SHE CONTINUES TO WRITE ABOUT THE LEGACY. I HATE TO SEE IT GO.TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE UPSET THAT I DIDN'T GO INTO DETAIL. I AM TRULY SORRY!IF I START TALKING ABOUT THE CHARACTERS I WILL GIVE THE BOOK AWAY. I WILL SAY THIS SOME OF HER OLD BOOKS (NO COMPROMISE, JUST BEFOR DAWN, AND HER BOOKS WITHIN THE HIDEAWAY SERIES ARE BETTER. I JUST REALLY STARTED READING THESE TYPES OF BOOKS.) I WOULD START IN ORDER FOR A BETTER EFFECT! THANK YOU AND HAVE A NICE DAY.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whatta Way To Return Home 11 April 2006
By Desiree - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
Tyler Cole is an OBGYN living in Hillsboro heading up a clinic.

Dana Nichols is home to bury the last of her family and investigate the murder/suicide of her parents, hoping to clear her family name.

What they don't expect to find is a love that will last a lifetime.

Dana and Tyler were so incredibly good together. Reading it reminded me so much of the story between Martin and Parris in the Hideaway novel. Tyler is the epitome of a Cole male: Tall, dark, insanely handsome, and incredibly intelligent. Honestly, the first day Dana met him,she knew she didn't stand a chance. Tyler became the key to unlocking her heart and healing the wounds she's suffered from years of loneliness. In a matter of 6 weeks they courted, slept together, married, and became pregnant...these Cole men move fast.

My only problem was that I didn't think there was really enough about Dana's investigation. But it didn't bother me too much b/c I loved reading about Tyler and Dana anyway.

Rochelle Alers is such a wonderful author and I've enjoyed the Hideaway series very much. It's wonderful to have an author that writes about the importance of family and love. It's also great to see an African-American family that is so successful and so filled with unconditional love for one another. Take a bow,Ms. Alers b/c you've earned it.
