4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful stair cleaner 20 July 2007
I bought this little handheld vacuum cleaner mainly to do the stairs. I have a great big Dyson which, despite all its attachments, is hard work to balance on the stairs safely and cleaning the stairs was fast becoming my most hated job. With 2 dogs in the house, I was keen to buy a machine that would do a good job with dog hairs and also with sock "fluff"!! I considered buying the handheld Dyson but after reading the reviews I wasn't sure if it would manage the job and also the price was a little off-putting. So, after a little research, I came across this model. It's compact, easy to use and has a powerful rotating brush which does a good job with the dog hairs. It has a little dust pod at the back which collects the debris and is relatively easy to dismantle and empty. The hose is stored neatly around the machine and there are two attachments - a long nozzle and a brush.
So...why not 5 stars?? It has two main drawbacks. One is the HEPA filter which has to be cleaned each time the cleaner is used. Very fine dust and dirt trapped in the filter must be removed after each use by vigorously banging it against a hard surface. This causes lots of dust to fly up into the air (not good if you're allergic to dust!!) I've tried brushing it clean but this also causes clouds of dust. This job is best performed outside!! Secondly, the vacuum is very noisy - much more so than I had anticipated. The first time I used it to do the stairs my ears were ringing by the end of it. I now wear ear plugs to use it.
Despite these drawbacks I think this machine does a good job for the money and it is definitely a useful addition to our household.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent small hoover (barely a 'handheld') 3 Mar 2009
Crackingly well made British hoover. Description is wrong - it's mains and does have a HEPA filter. It's extremely powerful and the rotating brush head, along with the long lead, make it absolutely ideal for doing the stairs or hoovering up a spill somewhere. It's too big and heavy (imagine a kettle full of water, but more ungainly) to be a dustbuster, but then again, it has about 100 times the suction. This would probably suffice for a bedsit or studio flat, although you'd need to have a good back or get on your knees to do the hoovering! Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars My hand held Hunter 9 April 2008
    Verified Purchase
First of all I wish to say how speedily it arrived. I got it within 24 hours of ordering from Amazon. It works fine, and has excellent suction. Although it is lower power than a full size vac, the small size of it makes the suction more concentrated therefore it is stronger. You have to be careful not to put it too near anything that moves, like a newspaper, or the pages get lifted. The only nuisance is that the dust filter needs to be emptied and cleaned every use. On the other hand, it only gets full so quickly because it picks up so much dirt. It's easy enough to empty, but a messy nuisance job, and therefore I will only use it for things I cannot do with my full-size vac. However, I am pleased to have it in the cupboard for those occasions. For the price it is a good buy, and a useful tool to have.....when it's needed. Great to have the power cord (very long)and three pin plug, and not having to worry about keeping it charged. It's neat and small and the cord wraps around it into a tidy little parcel to tuck away.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolute "Super Sucker" Vac 4 Jun 2009
This is an absolute great "little vacuum", its so powerful and a fab "super sucker", easy to use and ideal for cleaning the stairs, which is what I wanted it for. We have a rough collie who sheds quite a bit of fur and this machine is just brilliant at picking up the dog hairs. Its very easy to use but you do have to clean out the filter after each use. However, this is a small price to pay for the excellent cleaning power that this vac produces.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hunter Vac 15 Nov 2008
I don't usually write reviews for stuff I have bought from the www, but I felt this product deserved it!

This hand held vac is fantastic. Not only is it great value, but it does the job brilliantly. I bought this for our camper van, and it cleans both the carpet and hard surfaces brilliantly. You do have to empty the filter after every use but that isn't too much trouble (you may want to do it outside at arms length). I am so glad I did not buy the more expensive competition item.

Normally handheld vacs are a bit weedy and barely suck up anything, but this really does the job, better in fact than our household vac. Top marks for a good tool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Right good sucker!! 12 Nov 2008
I read the reviews on this little sucker and it definately paid off. Yes there is no where to store the extra attachments but I just keep them in the cupboard where it's stored and I wrap the lead around it so no problem there. The only other comment in the reviews was that it's noisy?? I don't think it's any noisier than my Dyson upright. The build quality is solid and not that cheap, flimsy or brittle plastic. It's relatively light with a good long cord which is ideal for the stairs (why I bought it)and the suction....WOW it's really good in fact it's better than my Dyson but then I'm not over impressed with Dyson. So overall it's a quarter of the price of a Dyson, gives better suction than a Dyson, is lighter, smaller and easier to use than a Dyson and in my opinion is better built than a Dyson so what are you waiting for?? Fantastic, better than I could ever expect although if I do get any problems with it I'll post those as well....Happy vacking...Rick.
