i bought this CD, and was most impressed by the standard of solomons music, he sings straight from the heart, and would recommemend it to those who love the deep southern soul sound as i do, as that is what you get from this CD, happy listening folks luv liz x

This superb set anthologises the early years of Solomon Burke's career recording soul classics for Atlantic. With a nice clear remastering and an excellent sound quality, this set allows the listener to hear the great man's voice in all it's glory in the songs that made him famous. Having bought it after hearing `Everybody needs Somebody to Love' in the Blues Brother's film, I was entranced by the music found here, there is so much more to the man!
With slow burning ballads and up tempo powerful stompers, this is a varied collection that shows just why Burke was so well loved. It is track after track of classic soul, with hints of country and gospel, sung with a huge depth of feeling and a real emotional literacy. It is an essential addition to anyone's soul collection.
The two discs are presented in a fold out double jewel case, with a decent booklet. The sound is clear and crisp on my speakers. I all this is a great collection. I can also recommend `Man and a Half', a Wilson Pickett collection in the same series.

I had not heard of this artiste before buying this CD. It was only at his passing that I decided to listen to his music. I liked what I heard so decided to buy Home in Your Heart: The Best of Solomon Burk & I was not disappointed. It is one of thes best CD's I've ever bought. He has the most soulful, beautiful voice I have ever heard. If you like the Old School Soul music then this is a must.
