Lovely!,

The Corrs were one of the first 'pop' bands that I encountered as a young teenager, and were THE thing to be listening to. I bought 'Talk on Corners' when I was 11, and, having forgotten them for a few years, I then bought their Greatest Hits. When I heard a few snippets of 'Home' a few weeks ago, I decided to give them another chance. Home is my favourite album by far; partly because I love folky, Irish music in general, and this album is primarily based on this. The album is magical, enchanting and soothing, and also has a heartbreaking quality reminiscent of the Corr's older songs such as Runaway, Only When I Sleep and Dreams, though often with less prominent melodies. In my opinion, the best tracks are My Lagan Love, Spancill Hill and Peggy Gordan. Old Town is the only let down. It seems completely out of place; this is a pop song in the middle of a folk album, which spoils it somewhat. All in all it's a wonderful album, which shows the Corrs doing what they do best.

Back to their roots,

It has been a long time coming and worth the wait. The album name gives the clue - they are back 'Home'. In some of the earlier albums you had an occasional gaelic treat that tended to reduce as the band progressed. Their music has however always been outstanding, and you will not be disappointed here. The gaelic treats are throughout the album, and Andreas voice remains a pleasure to listen to. The instrumentals are excellent and help complete a good balance to the overall appeal of this release. It is all new music apart from a revised version of 'Old Town' (Track 9). I hope that now they have gone full circle and returned 'Home' that they do not decide to call it a day, as we want plently more of this. A must for the true Corrs fan.

The Corrs are back!!,
By Mark Glover (Basingstoke, Hampshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

Wow! What an album. Since buying it I haven't been able to stop playing it. This is how I remember the Corrs - and then some! If like me you prefer their earlier albums over the recent hit-or-miss over-produced commercial efforts then you will love this album and you are in for a real treat. Seriously, there isn't a bad track to be found on this beautifully produced album. From "My Lagan Love", the opening track, you just know that this is going to be something special. It is almost impossible to pick a favourite as they are all so well performed. Brilliant musicianship coupled with Andrea's hauntingly beautiful voice - what a combination. I love it! Welcome back!
