As a fan of C.T.Ward's since the seventies I still consider this his greatest achievement. Many words spring to mind when thinking of this album.Magical, melodic, lyrical, and most of all just simply brilliant!
Beautiful deep meaning love songs like 'Gaye' and 'Home Thoughts' are well tempered by the more light hearted tracks such as 'Crisis' and 'Dubious Circus Co'.Indeed this is an unusual album in the sense that it contains not one bad track.
If you are beginning to get into the music of C.T.W. then this is the obvious place to start. If you have some of his albums already then you will not be disappointed with this.If like me you are an 'old' fan then you have to have this as it's the only album containing the sublime track 'Traveller'.
Buy and enjoy......you can't go wrong!

if only the beatles would 've recorded this in 1973, it would have the world recognition this masterpiece deserves. but they didn't, and clifford's solo genious shines eternally here. it's my childhood, adulthood, something for every season. atmospheric and quirky, lushously melodic and lyrically engaging. they, just dont make them like this anymore. charisma, who also had genesis and other progressive intelligent pop rock circa the time, could have done more with this artist. as in "cifford who?" being the usual reply to the question of peoples' consciousness of him. from the cover, thru every track, and the yearning to be able to hear much more like this, this album has a pride of place upon your shelf. so, buy it, and put it there. a classic you must enjoy, thru the years. read the other reviews - adoring tributes to c.t.w. and 'home thoughts from abroad'.

Wonderful CD 6 July 2004

I owned a copy of the album 'Home Thoughts from Abroad' and was delighted to discover it was available on CD. The lyrics and music are brilliant. Each song is like a 'tiny musical' telling a story all of its own. If you have never heard Clifford T Ward be reassured, you will love this CD!
