I bought the book and I still don't have a home network. Need I say more?

If you have 2 or more Windows XP machines there is a wizard provided by XP to setup your network. For reasons I still do not understand this has not worked for me, and the book provides no "insude information" or troubleshooting tactics.

Unfortunately this is a Microsoft publication and is written from the perspective that the Microsoft tool provided works. I guess this is great if it does work, but it didn't for me and the book is certainly not helping in trying to track down the problem.

At least half the book is dedicated to "things to do on your network" - security, resource sharing and collaborative tools and methods. This might be excellent but I haven't got that far yet!

I have had exactly the same experience as the other reviewer and have now sent this book to the charity shop. I do now have a home network but only because I bought a Linksys router and linked my two Windows XP computers that way. Not exactly satisfactory on Microsoft's part!

Since "Windows XP networking Inside Out" is available there is no reason to buy this book any longer..too simple too little info....if you get it cheap you may want to buy, but I would always prefer the above mentioned new book.

Useless 14 May 2002
By Dr. K. Schaeppi - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is useless because it assumes that everthing just works they way it is supposed to work - but alas it never does and then the book doesn't give you any clue what to do - SIMPLY DO NOT BUY IT - the XP help is more usefull.
