This is a very enjoyable ebook for someone like myself who is interested in Social History. As I am a Novice Genealogist I found it extremely interesting, well written and full of extraordinary tales about the severe hardships of people during the Cotton Famine, how poor the people were and about the hovels, dirt and unhygienic conditions that they had to endure, with very little food and water for everyday living. It makes you realise just how lucky we are, living in the 21st Century. Thank you.

Excellent book 12 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Excellent book which reflects the poverty and hardship that existed in the North West during the cotton famine. Written in a very moving although not sentimental way. It gives me pause to think when individuals talk about poverty and hardship in the current age - although I realise all things are relative to the age that one lives in. Very good book for all those that are interested in social history to read at some point.
