Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Ice T may not have invented Gangsta rap--Schooly D could plausibly make that claim--but there is no denying the extent to which this charismatic and controversial rap star popularised it. Taking his musical and stylistic cues from the Blaxploitation films and soundtracks of the early 1970s, he fused them with tales of 1990s street life and added a political element all of his own. The cover of Home Invasion depicts him filling the head of a white child with images of terror and violence, and on the album itself he boasts of his corrupting influence. It contains such classic tracks as "That's How I'm Livin'", "Gotta Lotta Love" and "Ain't A Damn Thing Changed", all of which display Ice T's ability to work complex arguments into simple lyrics, along with a whacking great dose of mordant and often morbid humour. --David Bennun

So Jay-z...have you liked Ice-T long? I was already deep in enjoyment when my mind gets blown by the ORIGINAL version of 99 problems, from 1993, jesus, what a tune!
He's not your every day type prankster, he's Ice-T, the original gangster!

3.0 out of 5 stars Class albam. Real gangster rap, 18 July 2011
This review is from: Home Invasion (Audio CD)
This is an excellent albam. Ice's delivery is cold and hard. His lyrics are convincing and you really buy into his life story. This guy is not a plastic gangster, he is the real deal and this albam give a great insight to his previous life as a street hussler and pimp. Great to motivate you in the gym or on a run.

5.0 out of 5 stars totally banging hip hop album, 22 Sep 2004
This review is from: Home Invasion (Audio CD)
This is my favourite rap album ever, had it since i was 11 and has been a big influence. The intro is hilarious as Ice warns about all the obsenities you're about to hear in the album, this has later been parodied by goldie lookin chain which will make you laugh even more if you heard the original first. This album is angy and sinister, especially the start of 'It's on', 'that's how I'm living' and 'addicted to danger'. The stand out tracks are 'It's on', 'Ice M F T', 'G style' and 'watch the ice break', these are absolute bangers that you'll want to crank right up, especially if you are driving home from work. '99 problems' is a funny track about Ice's various hoes, "i hope you took the pill cos i won't pay the bill". 'Thats how I'm livin' is an autobiographical account of Ice T's colourfull life, this show his talent-think how hard it would be to rap about your own! This is definately Ice T's best work, previous albums have dated because they rely more on synthesisers whereas this is mostly instrumental, and therefore timeless. Ice T has always produced great lyrics and this album is no exception 'Race war' is one of the most political tracks you'll ever hear and it just works so well, the lyrics are tight and have real meaning. The great thing about this album is you can always go back to it. If only there were more like this.
