David Carroll has done a great job in presenting a thorough pictorial history of the Home Guard.It shows the diversity of Home Guard Units (including "roller skaters!") in a format that one can "dip" into again and again.For anyone who wants to find out more,but not get bogged down with heavy reading,I recommend this to you.

I really enjoy any sort of history - this book is one of the best. It brought the Home Guard to life. Brave men.

Informative, interesting book, lots of photographs, but it didn't mention enough about women in the home guard, who appear to be largely forgotten.
