Book Description

Jan 2002
A slight breeze moved the French lace curtains as Karen leaned against the verandah doorframe. She watched the men struggle with the awkward and heavy feather mattress she had re-upholstered. The ornate bed was large and high off the carpeted floor. She had fallen in love with it the moment she and Bonnie had seen it at the estate sale. The antique maple bed and steps matched her furnishings in the room to perfection. This room for some particular reason was the only one in her home furnished with antiques, right down to her eagle photographs in ornately carved frames. Normally, Karen was comfortable with anything and everything modern. It wasn't until the past year that she'd started replacing her bedroom furniture with antiques. After the men left, she spent the afternoon organizing and moving the rest of her bedroom. Nodding her head in agree-ment with herself, she looked about the room with a critical eye. It was almost as if the bed was the last piece of the puzzle. Its headboard was strategically placed against the wall with the two windows from floor to ceiling on each side. The bed faced the verandah, the armoire to the right of the bed, the bureau and matching vanity to its left. Karen smiled. The room looked comfortable and inviting.

5.0 out of 5 stars I felt as if I have come to know the great chiefs of old. 11 May 2003
By michele bogle - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This fantastic tale weaves historic people and events with todays times. I felt as if I were transported back in time with the charactors. I felt the pain and turmoil of the Native Americans. I laughed and cried with them. This novel will make you feel as if you are actually experiencing the past events. I feel this is a MUST READ by ALL. To easily, we have forgotten the anguish of the past. This novel brings back to life events that should be remembered and felt wholeheartedly by all Americans today. I believe this story may even allow us to see errors of old and hopefuuly help to right any wrongs of our past. I applaud first time Author Pamela Ackerson on her ability to make you feel as if you were actually there. I hope there will be much more from this Author. As this book comes to a close, you will be wishing for more.
5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding! 1 Jan 2005
By Shirley Priscilla Johnson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
In this outstanding read we meet a lovely woman named Karen. Karen is a doctor, a woman who deals with facts, why then were the dreams she was having changing her life? How could a dream turn into reality? How could the past and future be as one?

In this exceptional novel we are taken into the life of Karen, who after purchasing a bed begins to dream, but her dreams have substance. In her sleep she meets an Indian named Standing Deer and begins to live in his world, which becomes as much a reality as her own. What mystic powers are hidden in this bed of dreams? And what part does Karen play in the master plan? Fascinating!

The author has woven a story that takes you from present to past, and back again, as Karen struggles to make sense of what is happening. As she becomes more and more involved with Standing Deer and the Indian people of her dream; you wonder where do the answers lie and what will the outcome be? The challenges become immense as Karen falls deeply in love with her Indian Warrior, and he with her. How can a love like this survive? Will Karen leave the world she knows forever to join her true love, or will he chose to stay in hers?

Not only does Ms. Ackerson write an outstanding fiction work, but she incorporates facts of the plight and living conditions of the Native American Indians, and their struggle to survive. Her description of the plains, the countryside and the respect they had for all life was excellent and drew you deeply into the meat of the story.

In this work we are given morsels of history, suspense, romance and the supernatural.

It is a love story like none other; one that transcends time and space and stirs within us the unquenchable hope for a better tomorrow. If we could travel in the past, could we make things better for the future or would we dare to tamper with history? A top of the notch read! Highly recommended.
