5.0 out of 5 stars Autobiography of a Yogi Part 2 !, 19 Mar 2004
By K. L. Smith (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a real rollar-coaster ride, thouroughly enjoyable from the word go. The trip to the Kumba Mela Festival is both horrific and hilarious at the same time. Also the description of Sai Baba had me in stitches...but dont get me wrong there is a lot of good honest spiritual truth in this work, and one feels as if one is actually there going along for the ride alongside her. I learnt more about India in the first three chapters of this book than I have from many others. The one major flaw is her incorrect quotation of the famous Maha Mantra, (the Hare Krishna Mantra) which you would have thought she would have at least got right in a book like this for authenticity's sake. Dont miss this book, it's sure to become a classic and who knows maybe in the future, a film also.

5.0 out of 5 stars An education!!, 24 Oct 2003
By A Customer
Never having travelled to India, I found this book to be a very real, interesting and exciting adventure. Sarah travels back to the country she swore never to return to and experiences all the wonders and nightmares that India has to offer. Taking a journey through a variety of cultures and religions, she delves into her own spirituality and beliefs to find her true inner self. A very enjoyable read!!

5.0 out of 5 stars If You're Going to India, Take This With You., 10 Dec 2006
By R. Emerson "Roz" (Edinburgh, Scotland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
It's not very often that a book makes me laugh out loud, but this one cracked me up. If you're going to India, especially for more than a brief holiday, take this book with you. As a volunteer in India, I found it comforting that Sara MacDonald suffered from the same difficultiess that I did, but also told her stories in a homourous way. This book is both entertaining and educational; it made me laugh, and it also put India's rich culture and frustrating contradictions into words.

One person who reviewed this book thought that MacDonald had a superficial view of India. I disagree with this, considering MacDonald's depth of discription and the amount of travelling she did, both with her partner and alone. It explained why many people (like myself) couldn't wait to leave India when we were there, yet miss it when we're home.

Five stars for MacDonald's witty and inspirational book.
