"Hollywood Babylon Strikes Again" has to be the weakest of the current series of the three books yet. It just seems to have run out of steam. None of the explicit photos of male or female nudity as featured in Vol. 2 (only a small black and white picture of Liz Renay running through the Hollywood streets in the mid 1970s)There is just nothing new. There is a big feature on Liz Renay who thought herself better than Monroe in many ways (better looking...better in bed....better breasts etc) until she did jail time and her career then hit the skids, ..so then we do get a rundown of some of her many lovers and the size of their equipment, and the ones who just could nt get it up. She claims to have bedded 100s of men as she climbed the ladder of success wrong by wrong but no one with any Hollywood clout seems to have married her...and she did get married many times; there is also a big feature on Bettie Page covering her life and tragic end and also Vampira who was the original "faghag" to James Dean, Paul Newman, Anthony Perkins and all of the pretty boys of the 1950s. Could have been, should have been and would have been far more interesting if Darwin Porter had dug out some more explicit photos that must still be circulating around somewhere. Can only describe this book as tame.

This is one shocking and fascinating book. A real eye opener which isn't any harm given that it shatters the illusion of perfection created by Hollywood. It is also a little sad to read how some of the most famous and talented stars of the stage and silver screen were often abused, exploited and taken advantage of.
It was very surprising to learn about the very dark side of some of Hollywood's most beloved and revered stars, producers, directors etc.who behaved and do behave atrociously.
This book is not for the faint hearted as it pulls no punches and tells it as it was, and is, in sometimes VERY graphic and vulgar detail. Parts of the book are utterly amazing. A great gift for people like myself who are very curious about what really happens and sometimes still happens behind the scenes in Tinseltown.

This book arrived yesterday the 18th Sept, was going to keep it for a for a good winter read but have now just finished it. This book will of course appeal to those with a good sense of humour who won't take the contents too seriously. Some of it is quite disturbing especially the section on Bettie Page, although very interesting it could upset some readers. Most of the book of course is about scandals of the deceased, true or not it does make fascinating reading although the authors do seem to be a bit obsessed about one thing, which way they swing and how big it swings.
But of course this is what people want to read about, this book is a no holds barred account of old Hollywood which differs from nearly all of these stars autobiography's. A great fun read which will make your jaw drop.

Facinating insight into the lives annd loves of the Hollywood elite. Take it with a pinch of salt, there's no smoke without fire, who knows?, it will stilll have you glued to each page.

This book is not to be taken seriously, that is a fact. Its full of imaginary conversations that deceased actors supposedly had over fifty years ago. Its also full of nonsense about their private lives which borders on the surreal in many chapters. I actually can't see the point of it really - and if the author was playing it for laughs, he failed miserably. I can't imagine any reputable authors quoting from this nonsense in the future. If you believe anything thats written in this book then you are easily fooled. Its a sort of PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE of the book world, only it fails to raise a titter even though its as bad in every way as the movie mentioned. At least that made you laugh.
