We bought a range of books for our trip to Provence. We are experienced, serious hill walkers, but as my wife was 4 months pregnant, we erred on the side of taking it easy this time. This book turned out to be the most useful. We stayed at Les Baux de Provence, near Arles, so the walks in the first part of the book were nearest for us. The book lists the relevant IGN maps which are always useful, and we carry a GPS (remembering to set it to the French grid!) but the maps in the book were fairly clear. We found the book very clear about getting to the walk starts, and it had some ineresting ideas for unusual walks in the Camargue, at Glanum (near St. Remy) and the Calanques. One does need a bit of experience to follow the walks, and when we say easy, we are still talking about 8km-12km, with 300m to 500m height gain (except in the Camargue!). In the typical Provence sun, these are still challenging days out. We are normally big fans of Sunflower, and Cicerone, but this Holiday Walks title just happened to meet our needs perfectly.
