Readers learn to see it from both sides with offensive and defensive stances, footwork, setups, and shooting techniques. Several variations of the most commonly employed shots are featured - double leg takedowns, single leg takedowns, snatch singles, and low singles - as well as counters for each. Hundreds of sequential photos illustrate the steps, grips, and angles of every move, and takedowns are included for use inside the inevitable clinch. Sections on drills and chains, as well as a list of resources for further practice, round out the text.

Mark Hatmaker is the author of "No Holds Barred Fighting" and "More No Holds Barred Fighting". He is the founder of Extreme Self Protection, a company that compiles, analyses, and teaches unarmed combat methods. He lives in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Would help slightly if pictures were in colour, but isn't essential. Lots of pictures demonstrating each move, allowing it to be studied and practised easily. Very informative, the beggining section on stances and set ups are very useful.
In the end a very informative and concise book, that teaches you how to takedown your oponent and gain the advantage. Its contents will be very useful for self defense aswell.
Well worth the buy and am already buying another book by the same person, and looking at others (savage strikes and killer subbmissions).

An amazing no nonsence approach to learning skills, i love mark hatmakers approach to writing books where it is more instructional photos and from different angles too, which gives you a better understanding of the drills being performed.

Mark Hatmaker shows that he has extensive knowledge of the NHB game. I Found this to be a very informative book. The picture are in black & white and could have been clearer but for the price I guess you can't complain. I was able to follow the instuction in the book quite well but I have a feeling that this was mainly due to the fact that I know what he was talking about. The complete biginner may have some trouble in following some of the steps in this book. Overall a good addition to any MMA library.
