Being a beginner wanting to take up the harmonica and wanting one that I was able to progress with I spent a lot of time searching for a harmonica. After a lot of time looking I decided to go for this one and am very pleased with the result. Notice a large difference from a cheap one and already managing to pick up basic skills. While looking at videos of how to play have also noticed some more advanced players using the same harmonica so is clearly one for a higher level too. Would definatly recommend to any others who have spent time looking around for a similar purchase

arrived in good time and well packaged.

I bought this as a christmas present for my hubby who had decided to take up an instrument and as he drives long haul it had to be something small. the build quality is good and it looks classy. He loves it - it's very easy to play so he's obviously practising more as he's enjoying it and what a lovely mellow note it has - the sound is beautiful. would definitely recommend

I recently purchased and received the Hohner Marine Band Special 20 Diatonic Harmonica for my teenage musician son and he really likes it. I am impressed that after a few hours of first ever use, he has several very recognizable tunes, and the harmonica has that traditional sound we were looking for. I did a couple of hours research on the web to determine what is the best starter model, traditional sound, ease of use, mouth comfort...and everything pointed to this type of diatonic model from manufacturers. Hohner seemed to have the best quality for money ratings, so I went for the well known maker. Glad I did. Good overall quality from the look and feel. The plastic mouth area does not swell when wet like wood does, and provides comfort without the irritation of swelled wood grain. This is what I assume is a medium size (maybe standard?) size harmonica. It is about the size of a medium candy bar, and easily slips into a shirt, pant, or backpack pocket for carrying anywhere.

From the instant i played my special 20 i noticed the amazing quality, and its not the first harp i've used. It isn't just faultless but has a very good sound. I got mine in the key of Eb but I will be buying the same harmonica in other keys to get a full collection of special 20's because they are fun to play.

I decided to purchase this harmonica after reading the many good reviews.
(My harmonica was dispatched to me by the company Incredibid ltd.)
When it arrived in the post, I was a bit disappointed with the quality of its packaging. It was packed in a very thin envelope which could have easily been damaged. Luckily, there was none.
Also, the image displayed shows a dark brown harmonica - a different colour to the one I received. My one is silver.

Overall, happy with my first harp but will consider purchasing from shops (in person) next time I decide to buy a harmonica.

OK! So I wanted a new hobby and always wanted to be able to play a harmonica.
Had tried to play a cheap version many years ago but you get what you pay for and was very disappointing.
This Hohner harmonica was researched and seemed a good mix of price and quality.
Little did I know what a little beauty I was getting. The tone and ease of playing is superb.

I've been learning the Harmonica since Christmas when I was bought a cheap one as a stocking filler. I found it hard to play at first but kept with it to see if I liked it. I recently decided to get a much better quality harmonica and chose the Special 20 after reading lots of very good things about them - the only downside being that they are inconsistencies between them out of the box and I've been unlucky to get a duff one which continues to 'rattle' on the 3-hole draw. I haven't let me put this off though as I will be ordering another as soon as my refund is fulfilled (Amazon will not allow an exchange). It's a joy to play, and after a few minutes of playing this Special 20 and then going back to the old, cheap harp I have you can hear a huge difference in sound quality and you can also feel that it is much easier to play.

If you are just starting out harmonica I would advise you to buy a cheaper one to see if you really want to take up the instrument but seeing as this Special 20 (which is apparently used a lot by pro's and highly recommended by teachers) is so cheap, you might as well just start off with one of these!

I would rate the harmonica 5/5 but unfortunately I've had a faulty one and I also wasn't pleased with the packaging of this item - the case the harp was in was not sealed (and the plastic inside had come unstuck) and it was only wrapped in a single layer of cardboard.
